　　　天津楊柳青是我国最著名的年畫產地，創始於明代崇禎年間，距今已有三百多年的歷史了。
　　這裏的年畫，具有北方民間淳樸自然的特色，風格性很強。它直接繼承中國古典繪畫和明代木刻版畫的特點，並博采建築、工藝與戲劇美術的形式和技法，構成獨特風格，藝術價值很高。
　　 在藝術上，構圖飽滿，色澤明快雅麗，並都採取對稱法，富裕強烈的裝飾美。人物俊美，神情細膩，逼真如生；動態直接受京劇影響。
　　 在製作上，技藝精湛，而工序極為繁複。它採用木版水印和人工彩繪結合的方法；一張年畫的產生，要先畫稿，後雕版，浮水印，多次套色，在經數十道人工敷彩，最後紙托綾裱，才能完成。特點是線條精細流暢，刀法豐富純熟，套色恰確，彩繪技術異常精工。它選用的材料甚為珍貴。有中國國畫的宣紙，沉年古墨和名貴顏料（如孔雀石藍，朱砂，胭脂等色）故其久不褪色，特宜珍藏。
　　 楊柳青年畫的體裁形式多樣，題材豐富多彩，有膾炙人口的古典小說，戲曲故事，神話傳奇；也有人們喜聞樂見的名勝古跡，飛禽走獸，花卉博古；尤以兒童題材為最。畫中情節性強，細節充實。其內容多歡樂吉慶之意，洋溢著我國民間年俗的歡樂氣息。

　 Yang　Liu Qing of Tianin，is the most well-known plance of the creative art “annual painting”．
